I have been teaching at The Academy since the 2019-2020 school year, and I am grateful and proud to be a part of the team here. I have been teaching since 2014 and tutoring since 2012. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Master of Science in Curriculum Development and Instruction from Florida State University before I moved to Texas in 2015. I currently hold the following certifications with the state of Texas: Generalist EC-6, English Language Arts and Reading 7-12, and English as a Second Language Supplemental EC-12. In addition to teaching here at The Academy, I also work full time as a private tutor. One of my primary goals as an instructor is to provide my students with the highest quality materials that ensure they have all the resources they need in order to succeed, regardless of their starting abilities and backgrounds. As a result, I am constantly creating, improving, and adjusting the materials I use in class to make sure my students are ready for the challenges they will encounter in the future. I want all of my students to proficiently and confidently read and write because my own life experience has taught me how indispensable those skills are. I love motivating students, minimizing their frustration, and helping them strengthen their reading and writing skills; and I hope to continue to do so for many years to come!
